LETTER FROM KASEY SMITH, 6-12 STUDENT LIFE DIRECTOR

March Ledger Leaders

Being a Ledger Leader means defining and continually demonstrating our core values of Faith, Learning, Leadership, Respect, Responsibility and Community.  Our teachers have submitted students for recognition they feel exhibit these values.  The categories for recognition from the middle school are 6th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade. The four categories for high school were determined by subject groupings: 1) English/Foreign Language, 2) Math/Science/Business, 3) Art/Music/Phy. Ed. and 4) Social Studies/Theology.

Congratulations to the students chosen: Maggie Sitter (6th grade), Lauren Cobb (7th Grade), Fernando Moreno-Melo (8th Grade), Joseph Zimmer (9th grade, English/Foreign Language), Brady Welsch (9th grade, Art/Music/Phy. Ed), Lexi Kuechenberg (10th Grade, Social Studies/Theology), Emma Kirkwood (11th Grade, Math/Science/Business).

I personally would like to congratulate and say THANK YOU to these students for the impact they have on the SMSA community and for the efforts they make to lead by example!

6-12 Director of Student Life

General News

New Campus Minister Announced

It is our sincere pleasure to announce that Kollin Petrie, 2007 SMSA graduate, has accepted the position of Campus Minister for SMSA.  During Kollin’s time at SMSA, he was extremely involved with campus life while also managing to carry a 4.170 GPA and being honored with the Tom Shaw Memorial Award as a senior.  Kollin went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Theology degree from Marquette University and post graduation, has worked for Catholic Charities, Messmer High School as a Theology Teacher, and most recently, Saint Francis Cabrini (West Bend) as the Youth Minister.  Kollin is most excited about the opportunity to have the focus of our program be around relational ministry and getting to know the students on a personal level as their grow in their relationship with Jesus.
You might also note that Kollin is the husband to Catherine Petrie, SMSA Theology teacher. He will begin his tenure with SMSA in late May or early June and will work throughout the summer months to prepare for the 2018-2019 academic year. Please join me in welcoming Kollin BACK to the Ledge!

Looking For Blue Jeans

A group of students are working in partnership with Mrs. Norton to prepare for a high school community awareness campaign on April 25th in support of the Fond du Lac Says No More Initiative; an awareness campaign centered around the issues of domestic abuse and sexual violence. More details regarding this campaign will be released next week, but for now, the students are looking for used jeans (adult an/or young adult sizes) that will be used for marketing the campaign in our school. Please send jeans you wish to donate for this cause to SMSA and deliver to the North Hall Office now until next Thursday (4/19). Thank you in advance for supporting this important effort!

All planning meetings are held in Korbie Commons (lunchroom) from 7:15pm – 8:30pm. Please join us for our final meeting:

  • April 18th

If you are unable to attend the meeting, but would like to be involved in the planning, please contact Andrea Welsch at 920-960-6208.

The halls are buzzing with talk about Prom and Post Prom on APRIL 28

The Post Prom Committee is looking for volunteers to help with games.  Shifts range from 10:30pm until 2:30am. This is a really fun way to volunteer, meet other parents, and your kid barely knows you are there.  It takes approximately 50 volunteers to ensure that the maximum amount of FUN is offered to the students. We are looking for about 15 more volunteers.  Please sign up today using the link below or call Rose Ahern at 920-517-5687 or Andrea Welsch at 920-960-6208. Thank you for your help!
