Service to others is an essential part of the message of Jesus Christ and, thus, living our Catholic faith. Students are offered various service opportunities throughout the year to assist them in completing varying system service requirements as well as giving back to their community. Jesus, in his love and compassion for the poor and the outcast, said what we do to the least among us, we do to Him (Mt. 25:40). We do this with God’s grace through service to others.
Students are required to complete a specified number of hours of service per each year of school throughout high school. The required hours can be completed from the beginning of June through the end of the school year. Summer hours can account for up to 25% of the total # of hours required per student for the following semester. All hours must be approved and recorded to count for the requirement. Crossover hours (or double-dipping) are allowed as specified by the individual groups or clubs.
The total # of hours per grade will be specified via the Service Requirement Document that will be distributed at the beginning of each year and require signatures of acceptance from both students and parents/guardians.
