FROM THE OFFICE OF STEVE KELNHOFER, PREK - 8TH GRADE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The end of the school year is quickly approaching. We will be ending our school year with a Kindergarten through eighth grade Mass on June 8, 2022 at Holy Family. After mass we will be celebrating our eighth graders as they are transitioning to High School. The student body will get to observe the eighth graders for the last time as student leaders of the SMSA Elementary School. Included in the celebration will be a Ledger Way candle ceremony, hearing from a few of the eighth graders and a presentation of the eighth grade certificates.

Field days for grades Kindergarten through grade 8 will be held on June 6th and 7th. Please look for communication from homeroom teachers for more information.

This week we held our second LOCKDOWN drill of the school year. The students, faculty and staff did a great job. Earlier this week two others and myself went to a training regarding Standard Response Protocol (SRP) for schools and Public Safety personnel in Oshkosh. Safety is very important to us at SMSA. Thank you for partnering with us and understanding the importance of practicing safety drills.

As a reminder, grades fourth through eighth will be joining grades Kindergarten through third grade in Standards Based Learning next school year. Please take some time to view the videos below if you would like to seek understanding about SBL. Each video is approximately 10 minutes in length. Please begin with the first video and view in order from top to bottom. Thank you.

Thank you for all your support and partnership as we move towards the conclusion of the school year at SMSA. Together we create a path for tomorrow’s children to achieve amazing dreams.

God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer
