Updated Quarantine Guideline at SMSA for Close Contacts - Effective December 7, 2020

In accordance with recently revised Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, the Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Fond du Lac County Health Department (FCHD) are in support of shortening the standard quarantine period for those in close contact with a positive COVID-19 case.

The new standard at SMSA for quarantine for close contacts is changing from 14 days to 10 days for people who remain asymptomatic, provided that daily symptom monitoring continues for the full 14 day period.

The duration of quarantine for close contacts may be further shortened to 7 days using a test-based strategy. Individuals may be released from quarantine after 7 days if:

  • an FDA authorized diagnostic test (PCR or antigen) is collected within 48 hours of the proposed end of quarantine (i.e., on day 6 or 7 of quarantine)
  • the result is negative
  • proof of the negative test result is provided to the Attendance Coordinator at attendance@smsacademy.org prior to the reentry to school (i.e., email from testing site)
  • symptom monitoring continues for the full 14 day period

Please note: The CDC, DHS  and FCHD continue to recommend the best option to reduce asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 is to complete a 14 day quarantine.

Support SMSA Staff/Faculty This Holiday Season!

For the past ten years, SMSA families have had the opportunity to donate towards a holiday gathering at Whispering Springs for SMSA Staff/Faculty. For many families, the contribution to the gathering was given in place of individual Christmas staff and teacher gifts, or as an added appreciation. Due to the current pandemic, we will not be able to provide this gathering.

However, we have a special opportunity for you to contribute a monetary donation towards individual Christmas gifts for our SMSA Staff/Faculty. The SMSA Leadership team has planned to surprise the teachers and staff with raffle gifts throughout their celebration of the “12 Days of Christmas” as well as a $25 scrip gift card for all.

We are asking for a minimum donation of $50. Please send your donation to school by Friday, December 18th in a sealed envelope labeled “Chris Gilles: Staff Christmas Gifts.” Checks should be made out to SMSA, and a tax letter will be provided.

If you have any questions, please contact Andrea Nuss at alnuss@charter.net or 920-904-4356 or Valerie Everson at valerie_everson@yahoo.com or 920-251-3719.

Blessings to you during this holiday season!
