Good Luck Ledger Football!

Message from the P3 - Grade 5 Principal, Steven Kelnhofer

Dear Parents,

Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  Take time in the next week or two to be thankful for all the blessings around us.  A sign I read often states, “What if you only woke up tomorrow with what you thanked God for last night?” It makes me stop to reflect on my day, and think about all the good God has provided me.

Core Values in Action

During All Saints Mass last week, I saw a fifth grade Mass buddy sitting by a couple of first graders; there to help guide them in Mass etiquette. When it came time to kneel during Mass, the fifth grader noticed not every student had a spot to kneel on the kneeler.  Jumping into action, the fifth grader gave up her spot for the youth beside her and knelt on the floor so the first graders would have a better, softer spot.  What a wonderful example of our Core Values in action.

I challenge all of you to find an SMSA Core Value in action and find a way to share it!

Respect, Responsibility, Leadership, Learning, Faith and Community.

I wish you the best of luck, safe travels, and a very thankful Thanksgiving.

God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer

Elves R Us - November 26th - 29th

Elves R Us began in 1992 at St. Mary’s Middle School on Merrill Avenue.  It was established and is still managed by our 8th grade students.  The event invites elementary students to go shop for gifts to give their family and friends.  An envelope was sent home in your child/children’s backpack.  Your child/children will bring that envelope with them to the event as 8th grade students help them pick out the perfect gift.  Prices range from $0.50 – $6.00.

The event this year will be held on Monday, November 26 – Thursday, November 29, 2018.

All profits made will be used to make a donation to a charity chosen by the 8th grade class and to fund their class trip.

New Faces in After School Care

You will see a couple new faces in After School Care (ASC) in the very near future!

We have added three adults to help with support in ASC; Ms. Joan, Ms. Jasmine and Ms. Tania.

Ms. Joan comes to us from our very own SMSA faculty. Ms. Jasmine and Ms. Tania are joining us from Marian University.  Both are education majors in their final two years of studies.  It was a pleasure to get know all three of these passionate people and learn how much they care about children and education.

Please welcome them as you get to know them in the coming days and weeks!

Parent Connectors

Would you like to become more involved with our SMSA Parent Connectors Group?  If you are interested in helping with honoring our SMSA Staff each month, conference meals or Staff Appreciation Week, please email any of the parents below.  Andrea Nuss, Valerie Everson, Katie Mathos or Jill Harmon

We would love to get elementary school parents involved in these school wide events!  We look forward to hearing from you!
