FROM THE OFFICE OF STEVE KELNHOFER, PREK - 8TH GRADE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

I pray all of you are healthy and well. We are nearing the conclusion of our COVID-19 fourth quarter journey of the 2019-2020 academic year. As I look back on the journey thus far, I reflect on all the continued learning that occurred, the relationships that were formed/strengthened and how faith has been active and supported in our journey. Thank you for your continuous support and partnership in education. Together, walking with Jesus, everything is truly possible.

Below, you will find many helpful links to close out our Academic year. School supply pick up protocols, end of the year calendar, Grading update for P3-8 grade and Eighth grade graduation letter.

Attention Eighth Grade students and Parents:

The eighth grade class of 2020 is an important piece of the history of SMSA.  On Monday, June 1st, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., we invite you to SMSA South Hall. Please come dressed in your Sunday best for an individual photo taken by Gueller’s Photography.  Please click here for more information on the photos.  These individual photos will be edited into a beautiful class of 2020 photo. You will be able to pick up/drop off supplies at this time as well.

Graduation and an eighth grade mass are nearing completion. SMSA is currently putting a very special virtual graduation ceremony together for you to view on Friday, June 5th. We are currently coordinating a special eighth grade Mass with Holy Family to celebrate the completion of Elementary School. A Mass date will be available for you in the very near future.

Thank you for your feedback from our eighth grade survey. We appreciate your understanding and patience. Most of all thank you for sharing your eighth grade child with us at SMSA. To know each of them, is to know and experience our Lord.

Please use the below links to support your navigation of the conclusion to our 2019-2020 academic school year. The links will support grades P3-eighth grade.

Scholarship Opportunities

Herb Herro Scholarship - Now Accepting Applications - Due Wednesday, May 27th at Noon

The Herb Herro Scholarship is offered to current 8th grade SMSA students, who intend to continue their SMSA journey at the high school.

The scholarship is financial need based, meaning that students/families must demonstrate financial need by way of completing the TADS (tuition assistance) application, click here.  In addition, students must complete an application/essay and obtain two letters of recommendation.

This award is a four-year commitment, typically anywhere from a 1/4 scholarship to a full-scholarship, renewable each year.  Recipients are required to maintain a quarterly 3.0 grade point and complete 20 annual hours of community service to maintain their award from year to year.

Applications are confidential and managed in the SMSA Advancement and Business Offices. A special committee will read these applications, and if selected to move on to the next round, students will be called in for a formal interview with our panel. If selected to interview, due to COVID-19, information will be made available as decisions are made on how (in-person or virtually) and when (perhaps after Wednesday, July 1, 2020) these interviews will take place.
