Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week I had the great blessing of working with current third grader, Blake S., as he was Principal for the day on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Blake has a wonderful business presence. We started our day with prayer and discussed that all decisions need to be made by using the SMSA mission statement and the Ledger Way as a guide. Then we checked on the classrooms for learning. Blake diligently wrote notes if learning was happening in the classrooms he visited. Then we went to the Business office and the North Hall office to get a behind the scenes look at SMSA. Next on the list was to spend some time looking at scheduling for next school year and a meeting with his assistant Principal for the day. This led to a meeting regarding school improvements with President Akey. We had a nice lunch together to relax a bit in the middle of the day. In the afternoon we took some time to look at curriculum and instruction and took some time to make big decisions like an out of dress code day. It was great to spend the day relaxing as Mr. Blake S. took over the Principal role for the day. He truly showed the Ledger Way throughout his day. We are blessed to have Blake at SMSA.
As a reminder, grades fourth through eighth will be joining grades Kindergarten through third grade in Standards Based Grading next school year. Please take some time to view the videos below if you would like to seek understanding about SBG. Each video is approximately 10 minutes in length. Please begin with the first video and view in order from top to bottom. Thank you.
Thank you for all your support and partnership as we move towards the conclusion of the school year at SMSA. Together we create a path for tomorrow’s children to achieve amazing dreams.
God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer
