Dear Parents and Guardians,
The end of our 21/22 school year is right around the corner of this upcoming weekend. As I reflect upon the journey of this school year, memories of the Ledger Way in action come to my mind. Stories of faith, responsibility, respect, leading, learning, and community come to my mind. It’s always a work in progress, as we together grow kids to become global leaders for tomorrow. We move forward with a growth mindset to become the best version of ourselves as we journey through this life together.
Thank you for choosing SMSA and partnering with us this school year. It truly takes a whole village to raise children to be global leaders of tomorrow rooted in Christ’s teaching. Thank you for being a part of the SMSA Ledger community. May your summer be filled with safety, joy, hope and love.
As a reminder, grades fourth through eighth will be joining grades Kindergarten through third grade in Standards Based Learning next school year. Please take some time to view the videos below if you would like to seek understanding about SBL. Each video is approximately 10 minutes in length. Please begin with the first video and view in order from top to bottom. Thank you.
Thank you for all your support and partnership as we move towards the conclusion of the school year at SMSA. Together we create a path for tomorrow’s children to achieve amazing dreams.
Until we meet again, may God bless you,
Steven Kelnhofer

Ms. Virginia Arndt will be joining our Kindergarten team. Ms. Arndt graduated from Marian University this past year in education. She has worked the past five years in our Extended Care program. Her service and faith filled heart will lead her to success at SMSA.
Standards Based Grading
The objective of the video series is to educate parents in short videos to unpack Standard Based Grading. The series intends to deliver an education and mindshift to understand Standards Based Grading, why Standards Based Grading is best practice, and how Standards Based Grading functions with the parent and teacher supporting the student’s journey.
