FROM THE OFFICE OF STEVE KELNHOFER, PREK - 8TH GRADE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Lent is before us and is beginning next week with an all-System Mass at Holy Family on Ash Wednesday.  Lent is a time we are called to practice the three disciplines of fasting, almsgiving and prayer.  It is good to think of these three areas when determining a fast, or what we will give up, during lent.  This makes me think back to when I taught second grade for a few years.  We discussed not only what we “give up”, but what we do in place of what we give up. We discussed how it creates an opportunity to create a new habit that could change your life for the better.

Take some time this week to discuss Lent with your family and how we get to practice discipline and get to become closer to the best version of ourselves.

Thank you for your continued partnership with SMSA.  Together we create a path for tomorrow’s children to achieve amazing dreams.

God Bless,

Steven Kelnhofer

Internet Safety Presentation

THE DARK SIDE OF CYBERSPACE

On February 23rd, SMSA hosted “The Dark Side of Cyberspace: the Internet, Smart Phones, and Social Media.”  Mr. Eric Szatkowski led a presentation for 5th grader students through 8th grade students during the school day.  A parent only session was held during the evening.   I hope you took this opportunity to use the Ledger Way core values of learning, community, respect and responsibility to learn more about Cyberspace in today’s culture.  It provided a platform to create and lead needed conversations with those closest to you, your family.
