Trade Tour of the FDL Wastewater Treatment Plant

SMSA is proud to participate in another year of Trade Tours through the Fond du Lac R.O.C.K. program, which stands for Retention, Opportunity, Community, and Knowledge. This program aimed at working specifically with high school seniors and juniors who are piecing together their plans post high school graduation. This program provides career exploration through business tours and job shadows. Fond du Lac R.O.C.K. is a program of Envision Greater Fond du Lac. The next Envision Fond du Lac tour is set for:
Tuesday, October 15th at FDL Wastewater Treatment and Resource Recovery Facility from 11:00 – 12:30 pm.
Business & Tour Information: Fond du Lac Wastewater Treatment and Resource Recovery Facility consists of a complex biological treatment process that produces clean water, methane gas, and biosolids for land application. This plant treats the wastewater of not only the residents of FDL, but also 19 outlying communities surrounding Fond du Lac as well as industrial and commercial contributors.
On the tour students will learn about careers in wastewater treatment operations, maintenance, and lab analysis. If you are interested in the subject areas of environmental science, biology, chemistry, mechanics or electrical this could be a great opportunity to learn about a career in this industry! Close toed shoes are required and please dress for the weather as portions of the tour will be outside. In addition, lunch will be provided.
Transportation and Parking: FDL Wastewater Treatment and Resource Recovery Facility is located at 700 Doty St. Fond du Lac, WI 54935. When parking please enter at the main entrance and park in the administration building lot. Any overflow can park on the side of the road to the south of the building
Students are responsible for transportation to and from the tour. Students will need to fill the Archdiocese Student Driver Form prior to the tour. If your student does not have the form completed please stop in the North Hall Office to pick one up. Please note that students are not allowed to drive together due to SMSA’s insurance policies. The high school counselors will be chaperoning the tour.
