We have all borne a lot together this past week.  The way our community has rallied together to support each other through our trials has been nothing short of incredible.

Let’s allow the Word of God to continue to be our strength on the road ahead.

The scripture reading below is from St. Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians:

(1:3-7)  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.  If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.  Our hope for you is unshaken; for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort…
(4:16-18)  …so we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day.  For this momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, because we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Shirts and sweatshirt logos will be screen printed and hats will be embroidered.  Please note, hats are also adjustable.

Our next all System Mass will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018.  Please join us as we celebrate the Solemity of All Saints at Holy Family Catholic Church (271 Fourth Street Way) from 8:45 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.  This Mass will be in honor of Sr. Michaela O’Brien.

Litany of Saints

Please remain seated following Mass as our 3rd grade students pray the Litany of Saints.  The 3rd graders will also be dressed as their favorite Saint.

Please note, students will be released at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 2nd, 2018 due to Teacher In-Service.  

As of now, child care is full.

New Vision Signs and Decals, Carrie and David Wiza, will be printing car decals in memory of Trent Schueffner.  All donations will be given to the Schueffner family.

Each year, Big Money Raffle (BMR) raises between $50-$60k.  Your participation in the sale of these tickets is imperative.  BMR helps keep tuition affordable for families as 100% of the profits offset operational costs at SMSA.  Did you know that it costs SMSA $37,000 annually for officials at sporting events, $775 to rent Fruth Field for each home football game, and for all System Masses, it costs $1,670 to bus everyone to Holy Family?

BMR Ticket Pick Up

Extra tickets are available in the Scrip, North or South Hall Offices.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the All for Books Enchanted Pumpkin Contest.  Thanks to your generosity, our contest collected $603.17!  This money was then used to purchase books from our fair to give to our P3-5th grade classrooms!  Scholastic also matched the donation and will give books to a school in need.

The winner of our Enchanted Pumpkin contest, was Mrs. Kuechenberg’s 5th grade class for their creation of “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats NIMH”.  They will enjoy a pizza party and their teacher will receive $25 in Scholastic Dollars to spend at our spring Book Fair.

Book Fair Committee Looking for Help

The Book Fair Committee is looking for an additional co-chair to help with the planning of our book fairs.

Your Athletic Booster Club is off to a good start for the 2018-2019 school year.  Many thanks to all who contributed to the Friends of the Ledgers campaign, concessions workers, ticket takers and those stepping up as officers, coordinators or volunteering in some other way.  

Poinsettia Sale Coordinator

PPA is looking for a Poinsettia Sale Coordinator for the music department’s annual fundraiser that will run through the month of November.

Coordinator duties are as follows:

• Hand out poinsettia tickets to families that request them.
• Collect payment(s) from families.
• Keep track of tickets sold, on an already created excel spreadsheet.

Bobbijo Amerling is a great resource who has done it in the past and is willing to help with questions.

The poinsettia sale kicks off our fundraising efforts for the HS Music Department’s trip to Disney in 2020.
