Oktoberfest on Saturday!
It’s time to celebrate! Holy Family Catholic Community’s Oktoberfest is set for this Saturday.
The event will begin with Mass in German and English celebrated by Bishop James Schuerman at 4:00 p.m. Festivities will follow in the Prayer Garden, and include music by Dorf Kapelle, a petting zoo, yard games, visits from firetrucks and police cars, and a basket raffle. Brats, German potato salad, beer, tacos, goulash, and more available for purchase.
Those who would like to attend the Springs Homecoming Game prior to the event are invited to park at Holy Family Church and take a shuttle over to St. Mary’s Springs High School. Shuttles provided by Holiday Automotive will shuttle fans from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and back to Holy Family Church from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Registration for First Reconciliation & First Communion preparation to close
Registration Holy Family Catholic Community’s First Reconciliation and First Communion preparation program will close on Sunday, October 10. Families can register their children who are in grades 2-4 this year for the program at hffdl.org/CF. Cost is $30 per child; financial aid is available by emailing Sabina Carter at scarter@hffdl.org or calling (920) 921-0580 ext. 501 to inquire.
Building the Domestic Church Parent Sessions
All parents are invited to attend Holy Family’s Building the Domestic Church sessions, which will teach attendees how to take their Catholic faith beyond the church doors and into their home. The first session, set for 6:20-7:20 pm on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, will discuss the topic “Living as a Catholic Family” presented by Fr. Ryan Pruess and Tom and Martha Endejan. Learn what the domestic church is, what it means to have a Catholic home, and what the role is of a Catholic parent at the session.
Create pillow cases for people in need
Join Holy Family Catholic Community as the parish works to make pillow cases for those in need with our program Creating ‘Cases. Volunteers of all ages are needed to cut fabric, design colorful combinations, pin, and sew pillows with sewing machines from 3:45 to 5:15 pm on October 21 and 28 at Holy Family Hall. Pillow cases will go to the “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” bed build, Salvation Army Warming Shelter, St. Katharine Drexel Shelter, and more. Holy Family to host screening of Roe V. Wade
Holy Family Catholic Community will host a screening and discussion of the 2020 film “Roe V. Wade” from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, October 29 in Holy Family Church Hall. The movie offers a dramatized look at the events that led to the court ruling in the early 1970s. Fr. Justin Weber will lead a discussion following the film.
