The Ledger Way: Respect & Responsibility in the Cold

The winds of change have arrived with frigid vigor to Wisconsin! November has been more like January in its average high temperatures and snowfalls, catching us all a bit off guard and perhaps a little worried about what the real January may have in store!

At SMSA, we are proud of the Ledger Way – six core values that are integral guiding principles for our life together: Faith; Community; Learning; Leadership; Respect; Responsibility. As winter arrives, we each take time to reframe routines, and adapt our plans to account for seasonal survival in light of The Ledger Way values.

Among other things, living the Ledger core values of “Respect and Responsibility” means that students thoughtfully honor with dress code in all seasons…adjusting plans ensure that they arrive at school comfortable, warm and ready to learn. Students are always expected to comply with SMSA dress code, which has practical variance/latitude for seasonal adjustments. Please review the dress code with your daughters and sons. Encourage their goodwill, good planning and good cooperation with SMSA dress code expectations in the months ahead.

An updated ready reference link to the SMSA dress code can be found by clicking here.

Mobile Phone Awareness

You may know that Federal law prohibits photographing or filming any behavior inside public restrooms – including private and public school bathrooms. Naturally, student privacy and safety can be at risk if this law is ignored. Please discuss this important standard and lawful prohibition with your sons and daughters. In recent weeks, the high school has had some minor concerns around this issue in both the boys and girls restrooms. Thanks in advance for your parental support to curb any questionable choices. Your attention to this will assure a positive culture moving forward!
