Seniors-End of year senior survey - Due ASAP

Seniors, please  turn in the yellow End of the Year Survey form that Mr. Resop passed out to you in class. It has the colleges you applied to, will be attending and your major on it. It’s very important that we have those returned AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as this information is needed for graduation.


Literary Magazine Bake Sale - May 14 - 15th

The Literary Magazine is running a bake sale starting Tuesday, May 14th through Wednesday, May 15th. Please consider purchasing a baked good to support our publication!

 

Items may be purchased before school, Ledger Period, and after school on these days.


Senior Parents Reserve the Date: Senior Banquet -May 19th

Invitations to the Senior Banquet have been mailed. Please respond as soon as possible to reserve your seat. The price is included in the invitation.

 

The banquet will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Departmental Awards Program - May 17th

*PLEASE NOTE: The Departmental Awards date, location and time has been changed.   The Departmental Awards will now be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Holy Family following Mass. The program shall begin around 10:10 a.m.

Swing Fore Springs Hole Sponsorship Opportunity

Swing Fore Springs & Summer Fling is fast approaching, Friday, July 26, 2019 and we are looking for your help. Parent, Grandparent and Guardian support is critical to the success of our events and we value your time and talents.

 

We would love for each grade to be represented at this year’s event as a hole sponsor. Hole sponsorship is $300. We would love to say hole 1 is sponsored by: “The SMSA Class of 2030”, and so on. If you are interested in participating, please send in a donation amount in a sealed envelope to Kristin Zitlow with your child’s grade level on the envelope. If the class does not reach the full $300 we will use the money to purchase a silent auction package that will be sponsored by the class!

 

If you are looking to get more involved we are also looking for volunteers to join our committee and to volunteer for the event. WI Private College Week Statewide Open House – July 8 – 13th

Marquette University Summer Leadership Institute – July 17th – 19th

This 3 day Summer Leadership Institute is a free opportunity for rising high school seniors who wish to gain a better understanding of leadership within the various contexts of the college experience.  Students will also learn about what it means to act as a leader in service to others in the community.

Agnesian Grief Relief summer opportunity – August 13th

Bereavement Services offers an Equine Experience for grieving teens entering 8th to 12th grade in fall.  Through interaction with horses, teenagers are able to express and recognize their grief.  

 

This event is free of charge and will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Admissions Staff at Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn and Stanford Universities will be hosting an Exploring College Options Program in Milwaukee on May 15, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Milwaukee Airport. This is a free event. Come learn about these institutions.

Moraine Park’s Gas Utility Program

Moraine Park is offering a Gas Utility program (technical diploma) at the Beaver Dam Campus.  Begins in June with graduation the following March.  Employers are in need!  Nearly half of local utility/natural gas companies report that they have difficulty finding trained entry-level technicians.

Scholarship Opportunities

Academy Girls Scholarship – due May 24th

Attention SMSA junior girls and respective parents/guardians!

 

A brand new, $750,  merit-based scholarship has just been announced! The Academy Girls scholarship will be awarded to one current, female, SMSA junior. The scholarship will be applied to tuition in the recipient’s senior year at SMSA.  The “Academy Girls” are St. Mary’s Springs female alumnae, who have been graduated for 50+ years. In May of each year, a luncheon is hosted and all Academy Girls are invited to come back and celebrate their love of SMSA by sharing stories, reflecting on their time on “the ledge,” learning about future plans for the System, and donating to support this new scholarship!

 

Applicants will be evaluated based on essay responses and GPA. Applications for this scholarship are due to the high school Counseling Office no later than Friday, May 24, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. No late applications will be accepted or considered.

 

Applicants will be notified by Friday, May 31, 2019, as to whether or not they were chosen for this scholarship.

Rosenow Elementary School Scholarship

Rosenow Elementary School PTO is offering three $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who attended Rosenow Elementary at least one year and who plan to continue their education at a college or a technical school.

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program

The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, commitment to pursue career or technical certification/degree, and a desire to contribute to society. Criteria include being enrolled in an eligible program in Fall 2019, exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit, post-secondary institution in the United States.
