From the Office of Steve Kelnhofer, PreK - 8th Grade Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The first couple of weeks at SMSA were filled with numerous smiles and the Ledger Way core values seen all around the Ledger community. The students seem to be finding their groove and adjusting to the school day. Each student brings such great joy with them as they interact with each other. A couple of days ago I observed one student supporting a new student on the way to our first All System Mass of the year. She introduced me to the new student and let me know how she was helping the new student. It was a wonderful sight of leading, inclusiveness and community matched with a learning opportunity. So many of these stories can be found and shared if we search for them. The Ledger Way is alive and well.

Safety
Thank you for supporting our parking plan on the upper south parking lot. It appears everyone is pitching in and doing their part by using the middle lane and west lane to exit the lot. This process supports safety and supports everyone driving forward and limiting the need to go in reverse where students and parents may be walking. Please use the west portion of the Hug and Go lane. By pulling all the way ahead and use the west side we will eliminate the back up on the east side of the lot. Thank you for working together to keep everyone safe and moving around the parking lot.

When the school day concludes, a parent must be supervising their child(ren) if the intention is to use the lower playground to play after school. SMSA will be only supervising students that attend After School Care. We are asking you to please leave pets in the car or at home when dropping off or picking up children. Pets are not allowed on our lower playground. This is to keep everyone safe as we drop off or dismiss from school. Thank you for your cooperation.

All-System Mass Reminders
Just a couple reminders regarding Mass.

Grades K – 5th boys and girls are to follow our everyday school uniform attire for Mass.
Grades 6th – 8th boys and girls are required to wear Lands’ End oxford button down shirts, with the SMSA logo, in white, French blue, Land’s End Lake blue and white stripes. Boys must wear an approved SMSA Lands’ End striped neck or bow tie.

More information about Mass attire can be found below

Pants must be worn by boys. Girls may choose to wear a school appropriate skirt or school appropriate pants to mass.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of SMSA. Please continue to read the eLedger as our main communication tool. Please ask your questions, because we are here to seek understanding and support you.

God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer

2023 Christmas Card Fundraiser Recipient Nomination Form

A long-standing tradition at SMSA continues again this year with the Christmas Card Fundraiser! Students in Grades 4 through 8 will be creating and selling handmade Christmas Cards. These cards will be sold for $2.00 each by the St. Mary’s Springs families after all the masses at Holy Family Parish sites on Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 3rd.

We will also be having a movie and popcorn afternoon, the day before Christmas Break, where students can bring in a donation to watch the movie of their choice and enjoy popcorn. Everyone will be able to participate, whether they bring in a donation or not.

All proceeds from the card sale and movie/popcorn will go to benefit a local child (Fond du Lac County) and his/her family, who is currently or has had medical concerns/conditions. Last year our Christmas Card Sale raised $4,805.00 for 11 year old Clay Bowe and his family.

If you know of a child and their family that you feel is deserving of a nomination, please fill out the form using the link provided below. All nominations will be reviewed and a recipient will be chosen by random draw.

Before/After School Care News

Before/After School Child Care

Child Care currently has a waitlist for before/after school care.  With an increase in enrollment this year the demand for child care has increased.

If you have a student/students in the before/after school care program please reach out to Ms. Tracey to confirm that you will be using the before/after school care program for the 2023-2024 school year.  Please email Ms. Tracey to confirm schedules, if you have not already done so, we want to provide available openings to families on the waitlist.
