Principal’s Desk News & Information Upcoming Dates School Care News
Dear Ledger Families,
We hope this message finds you well and filled with excitement for the new school year! It has been wonderful to see our students back at school, ready to learn and grow together. Thank you for your ongoing support as we embark on another fantastic year at SMSA.
The Ledger community is thriving as we welcomed everyone back about a week ago. Our students are adjusting wonderfully to the school routines, and it’s heartwarming to witness their unique gifts shining through. We want to highlight a touching moment from last week: a 6th-grade student noticed a new classmate sitting alone during lunch and kindly invited her to join their table. This act beautifully exemplifies our Ledger Way Core Values: leadership, respect, community, and responsibility. These moments remind us that the Ledger Way is alive and well in our community!
Thank you for your cooperation with our parking plan in the upper south parking lot. Your efforts to use the middle lane and west lane for exiting have greatly improved safety and traffic flow, allowing everyone to move forward without the need to reverse, where students and parents may be walking. Please continue to use the west portion of the Hug and Go lane, pulling all the way ahead to minimize backups.
A reminder: parents/guardians must supervise their child(ren) if they wish to play on campus grounds after school, as SMSA only supervises students enrolled in our Extended Care Program. We also kindly ask that you leave pets in your vehicle or at home during drop-off or pick-up times, as pets are not allowed on campus grounds to ensure everyone’s safety. Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our school environment safe and enjoyable for all!
Mark your calendars for our All-System Mass on Friday, September 5th. Here are the details for student attire:
Grades K – 5: Students are to follow everyday school uniform attire.
Grades 6 – 8: Girls may wear Lands’ End Oxford button down shirt only with SMSA logo in white, French blue, and Lands’ End Lake blue and white striped with a school-appropriate skirt or pants. Boys are required to wear Lands’ End oxford button-down shirts with SMSA logo in white, French blue, or Land’s End Lake blue and white stripes, along with an approved striped neck or bow tie.
Note: Shorts are not allowed during All-System Mass.
We are grateful for your support and collaboration as we work together to create a nurturing learning environment. Your involvement makes a significant difference in our students’ lives. Looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!
God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer

If you are interested in getting involved at SMSA, be a part of the SMSA Parent Connectors Group! Our group focuses on building connections with our SMSA families through our events during the school year as well as celebrating our amazing SMSA Staff. If you have a child(ren) in grades preschool through 5th Grade, you received a blue Parent Connectors Volunteer Form at supply drop off day. If you are interested in helping with our group, please fill out the form & return it to your child’s teacher by Friday, September 5th. Only ONE per family is needed to be filled out. If your youngest child(ren) is in 6th Grade or older, please email me, alnuss@charter.net, letting me know you would like to be included in the group emails as they didn’t receive a volunteer form. Once they are all collected and entered, you will receive an email. Each year a NEW email group is created to keep it updated so even if you have been a part of the group email in years past, please let us know you continue to want to be. We greatly appreciate ALL of our volunteers! We couldn’t do what we do without all of your help! It is going to be a great school year! If you have any questions, please email Andrea Nuss, alnuss@charter.net.
