From the Office of Steve Kelnhofer, PreK - 8th Grade Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Last week in the 4th and 5th grade lunchroom I observed a group of students noticed an individual eating alone at a table. Four students stood up from their table of 6 or 7 and went to eat with the individual student. They stated, ” We didn’t want her to eat alone because everyone needs a friend.” The power of those words shifted the lunchroom. These students understand we were created for relationship, fellowship and community. It’s awesome to see the Ledger Way used in a meaningful way in a life of a 10 or 11-year-old. These four students used leadership, respect, responsibility and community all in one small moment that had large impact and influence for another student.

Fall Parent/Teacher/student Conferences
Parent/teacher/student conferences will be held on October 3rd and 4th for grades P3 through 8th grade. A parent communication regarding conferences was sent by homeroom teachers on Sept. 18th. Please use our Skyward system to sign up for a conference time in grades P3 – grade 5. MS conferences will be an open house format. SMSA is excited to build partnerships with each and every one of you through the parent/teacher conference experience. It’s a valuable experience to build relationships from Kindergarten – 8th grade. Looking forward to seeing you on campus.

Trunk or Treat and Halloween classroom parties will be help on Halloween. Please look for more information from the homeroom teachers regarding classroom Halloween activates.

Thank you for your continued partnership with SMSA. Together we will create a path for tomorrow’s children to achieve amazing dreams.

God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer

News and Information

Lost & Found

One month into school and our Lost & Found is already a popular spot. Please take a moment to see if your child is missing any items, and if so, visit our Lost & Found spot to the left of the South Hall office entrance doors when you walk into school. Conferences next week Tuesday and Wednesday will be another great time to stop and see if any of these lonely items belong to your child.

Lunch Room Guest Reminders

As a reminder, if you are planning to celebrate a special day, or have a special guest bring lunch in for your child(ren), please have them check in at the North or South Hall office when they arrive.  If possible, please let your child(ren)’s teacher know that they will be receiving a special outside lunch/guest.

Lunchroom: When a student has an outside guest for lunch there are two options: The guest may eat with the students at the typical lunchroom tables or the guest and only their child may eat at an individual table if there is room. Please ask guests not to share food that is brought into school with other children in the cafeteria, for safety reasons.

Booster Club Admission and Concession Volunteers Needed!

If you are the parent of an athlete, please consider giving of your time to help out in one of our concession stands or with admissions. The Booster Club supports ALL SMSA sports, so feel free to help out at activities your kiddos are not in, to assure other parents can watch their son or daughter in that particular sport. This is a great opportunity to serve and see/meet more of our Ledger family.

Signing up is easy…..just click on one of the links and select a date that best fits your schedule.

A big thank you to those that have already signed up and given their support!
