Dear Parents and Guardians,
Recognizing many of you have voiced the desire for increased flexibility with regard to allowing your child to toggle between virtual and face to face education, we are on the path to make synchronous learning more available for day to day learning to keep us safe on the Ledge from COVID-19 symptoms. Please remember, pending the maturity, grade level, and needs of your child, as well as the resources/materials needed to deliver the educational experience, the learning outcomes will vary by grade level. You, as the primary educator of your child, must help to make the right decision for the education of your child(ren) on a daily and weekly basis.
At this time, we are allowing students to participate in day to day synchronous virtual learning in 6th-8th grade as of Monday, September 28th. We believe they have the developmental independence to be successful in this format of learning. If you are choosing to have your middle school child join synchronously, they must be logged into the virtual classroom at the start of the scheduled class time since attendance is being taken every period of the day with the exception of study hall for virtual students. If you are choosing to have your student join classes synchronously for a day, it is possible that your student may not have all of the physical resources with them to fully participate in all activities during synchronous instruction and may need to follow up to get copies of materials at a later time. Please know that if your student is resting for the day to get healthy, they can find the recorded lessons for the day located within the teacher’s Google Classroom by the end of the day.
Educating the spectrum of students from grades P3 -8 looks different in person as well as virtually. As we look towards expanding our capabilities to offer the day to day option of synchronous learning in the lower elementary grade levels, we ask for the gift of time. The developmental independence in lower elementary school is often still maturing. The students are growing with each passing moment and continuing to develop their skills in participating in virtual instruction. We look forward to continuing our partnership with parents as virtual learning extends to the lower grade levels. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we work towards providing the best learning environment for each of our students.
God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer
