From the Office of Steve Kelnhofer, PreK - 8th Grade Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This past Tuesday, eleven students were welcomed to a light breakfast to celebrate the first Principal’s Pen breakfast of the school year. The Principal’s Pen breakfast highlights students that were observed bringing the Ledger Way words off the walls and into action in our learning community. Each Ledger Way value is a skill to be molded towards perfection. The students recognized for the award have shown an awareness in honing their Ledger Way core values skills. Each month, SMSA has a Principal’s Pen breakfast for three different grade level ranges of students. It’s a great opportunity to hear Ledger Way core value stories and recognize the growth in character as purpose filled lives are illuminated.

Parent/teacher/student conferences were held on October 3rd and 4th, for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. Thank you for taking the time to partner with us on the Ledge. As a reminder, you are welcome to connect with SMSA and have a scheduled conference during business hours between the conference time and the spring conferences. When we partner together, the SMSA mission for the children will come to fruition.

Lunchroom Guests: When a student has an outside guest for lunch there are two options: The guest may eat with the students at the typical lunchroom tables, or the guest and only their child may eat at an individual table if there is room. Outside food shall NOT be shared with other students beside the guest and the student who the guest is visiting for safety reasons. (Policy: Lunchroom Rules on page 27 in the handbook.)

Dates to Remember:
October 5 & 6: No School (Teacher in-service)
October 27: Middle School Halloween dance after school
October 31: Trunk or Treat (Evening program)
October 31: Elementary Halloween Parties (Last hour of the school day)
May 24: Kindergarten – Eighth Grade Mass & 8th grade graduation at Holy Family at 9:00 AM

Thank you for your continued partnership with SMSA. Together we will create a path for tomorrow’s children to achieve amazing dreams.

God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer

Winter Sport Athletic Forms

As fall sports start to wind down, the SMSA Athletic Department is beginning preparations for winter sports. If you have an athlete interested in participating on a winter sports team, the athletic paperwork needs to be completed prior to the season start. If your athlete has competed in a fall sport, they do not need to complete the paperwork again. The forms are included in the link below.

Please contact Kelly Mueller at kmueller@smsacademy.org with any questions. Good luck to our fall sports teams as they finish their seasons. Go Ledgers!

Booster Club Admission and Concession Volunteers Needed!

If you are the parent of an athlete, please consider giving of your time to help out in one of our concession stands or with admissions. The Booster Club supports ALL SMSA sports, so feel free to help out at activities your kiddos are not in, to assure other parents can watch their son or daughter in that particular sport. This is a great opportunity to serve and see/meet more of our Ledger family.

Signing up is easy…..just click on one of the links and select a date that best fits your schedule.

A big thank you to those that have already signed up and given their support!
