From the Office of Steve Kelnhofer, PreK - 8th Grade Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The autumn leaves have begun to share their true colors as the school year continues to move forward. Students in Grades 2 – 8 have completed their MAP testing for the Fall, parent/teacher conferences have been completed and our awesome teachers continue to inspire throughout the moments of the school days. One could say, our true colors are being shown as well.

Thank you once again for attending conferences as we are near the middle of our first trimester. Parent/Teacher Conferences are an important part of school life to build relationships. Please complete one short survey for each academic area that pertains to your family. We will review the feedback for future conferences. Thank you for providing us positives and opportunities for improvement as we are a learning institution. Thank you. (Please fill out this form) to help us better serve you.

Our classroom Halloween parties will be held on Oct. 31st in the afternoon. Please see more details from individual homeroom teachers. Parents must be SEE trained to attend the classroom parties. Oct. 31st will be our annual Trunk or Treat in out upper parking lot. Please look below for more information. It’s so much fun to build community at these events.

SMSA is excited to host a field trip for Education majors from Marian University. On October 24th, Marian students will be coming to the ledge to experience education first hand as they navigate through a few classrooms for experience. It’s an exciting opportunity for the partnership between Marian University and SMSA.

A special shout out and thank you to the Parent Connectors Committee and the volunteers that put together special treats for the teachers for the two evenings of conferences. This kind gesture means so much to us at SMSA. We appreciate all you do to support our teachers as we go through the school year. You are truly amazing with hearts of filled with love.

Dates to Remember:

October 27: Middle School Halloween dance after school
October 31: Trunk or Treat (Evening program)
October 31: Elementary Halloween Parties (Last hour of the school day)

Winter Sport Athletic Forms

As fall sports start to wind down, the SMSA Athletic Department is beginning preparations for winter sports. If you have an athlete interested in participating on a winter sports team, the athletic paperwork needs to be completed prior to the season start. If your athlete has competed in a fall sport, they do not need to complete the paperwork again. The forms are included in the link below.

Please contact Kelly Mueller at kmueller@smsacademy.org with any questions. Good luck to our fall sports teams as they finish their seasons. Go Ledgers!

This is a great opportunity to serve and see/meet more of our Ledger family.
