From the Desk of Steve Kelnhofer - Elementary School Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are about to enter the season of Advent. Advent is broken into four areas of growth, one area per week during the season of Advent. We are called to focus on hope, peace, joy and love during the four weeks of the Advent season. Each one of these virtues brings us closer to preparing our hearts for this Christmas, and for eternal life with our Savior in Heaven. The first week of advent we light the first purple candle, The Prophecy Candle. Purple is the primary color associated with Advent. Within the Catholic Church it symbolizes penance, preparation, and sacrifice. During the first week of Advent we remember the Old Testament prophets who foretold of Jesus’ coming with hope and anticipation. The first week of Advent we reflect and celebrate hope.

Elves R Us
A special thank you to our 8th grade team of teachers, 8th grade students and supportive parents for a successful Elves R Us academic learning experience. The teachers and 8th graders did amazing work throughout this learning opportunity. Thank you to the adult volunteers that supported the program from wrapping, supervising the store, setting up, tearing down and so much more. We couldn’t have done it without your support. Thank you to the students and families at all grade levels that supported Elves R Us through the shopping experience. Thank you for supporting our 8th graders in learning about customer service, economics, fine motor skills, patience when shopping with little children and many more life lessons. Elves R Us presents an experience for a community to nurture many of the Ledger Way Core Values.

SMSA is excited to support Lev Werdin and his family this Advent season. Please read the following letter to learn a couple of ways you can make a difference in your journey and another’s journey this Advent.

SMSA Faculty and Staff Christmas Gathering 2023 Donations

For over twelve years several SMSA families have sponsored a Christmas Gathering for SMSA teachers, administrators, and staff as a way to show their gratitude.  For many families, the contribution was given in place of individual Christmas gifts, or as an added appreciation.

In previous years, the gathering happened after school but not all SMSA Staff members were able to attend due to other commitments. Instead, this year we will provide a special luncheon that will happen during their school day so that all staff can enjoy.  All staff will each receive a special gift as well.

Please note, this opportunity is optional and offered to any SMSA family that would like to contribute.  We ask each family interested in participating for a minimum donation of $50.

Monetary donations for the special luncheon/gifts will be accepted through Friday, December 22.  Please mail your contribution to Andrea Nuss, W4642 Mill Road, Fond du Lac, WI 54937.  Checks may be made payable to Andrea Nuss. If you are interested in paying through Venmo, please send to @Valerie-Everson-4.

Please address questions to Valerie Everson at valerie@eversonandgibbs.com, or to Andrea Nuss at alnuss@charter.net.

Blessings to you during this holiday season!
