From the Office of Steve Kelnhofer, P3 - 5th Grade Principal

News from the South Hall

Dear Parents,

Thank you for celebrating our teachers and staff this week. We all feel very blessed and humbled by your tokens of gratitude and support. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Principal for the day

On Friday, May 17, 2019 I’ll be letting the reigns of the school go to our Ledgerfest winner, third grader, Jacob Holder. He will be Principal for the day. He has already been busing planning. He would like all teachers, staff and students to have a spirit wear and jeans day. I would say he’s off to a good start! He will be touring the classrooms to make sure everyone is safe, helping with crossing guard in the morning and using the principal’s chair in his classroom all day. He’ll be having a business lunch with his assistant as well.

Field Day

On Thursday, May 30, 2019 the elementary school will be having our Field Day.

Kindergarten through second grade will be having their Field Day in the morning.  A sheet of information should have arrived home on Wednesday. We are looking for a few volunteers to help support the event.

Third through fifth grade will be having their Field Day in the afternoon. Please look for more information coming home from your child/s homeroom teachers in the near future.

SEE Training

If you have interest in attending your child’s field trips as a chaperone, SEE training must be completed.

Love and Logic Wisdom: It’s not always my job to solve a child’s problems. Sometimes, the best thing I can do is listen with empathy and interest.

God Bless,

Steven Kelnhofer

Swing Fore Springs Hole Sponsorship Opportunity

Swing Fore Springs & Summer Fling is fast approaching, Friday, July 26, 2019 and we are looking for your help. Parent, Grandparent and Guardian support is critical to the success of our events and we value your time and talents.

We would love for each grade to be represented at this year’s event as a hole sponsor. Hole sponsorship is $300. We would love to say hole 1 is sponsored by: “The SMSA Class of 2030”, and so on. If you are interested in participating, please send in a donation amount in a sealed envelope to Kristin Zitlow with your child’s grade level on the envelope. If the class does not reach the full $300 we will use the money to purchase a silent auction package that will be sponsored by the class!

If you are looking to get more involved we are also looking for volunteers to join our committee and to volunteer for the event. If you are looking to join the committee please contact Kristin Zitlow at kzitlow@smsacademy.org or 920-322-8006.  If you are looking to volunteer the day of the event, please visit one of the links provided below.

Please reach out with any question to Kristin Zitlow at kzitlow@smsacademy.org or 920-322-8006.  Please also be watching for your invitation and more information regarding Swing Fore Springs & Summer Fling.

Thank you for your support!

6th grade Tdap vaccine

The Wisconsin Student Immunization Law requires that all students entering 6th grade receive a dose of Tdap ( Tetanus/ Diphtheria/ Pertussis) vaccine. Please have your child immunized well in advance of school starting, as it is often difficult to obtain clinic appointments when you wait until late summer.

To check if your child’s immunization record is up to date, contact SMSA school nurse Katie Hellmer, call your child’s health care provider or the Fond du Lac County Health Department at 920-929-3085.

Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Program

Mr. K is challenging our elementary students to read 130,000 minutes this summer for our 2019 Scholastic Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Challenge!

Stay tuned for more information coming home soon!
