Dear Parents and Guardians,
During this first week of May we get to remember Mary, the Mother of our Lord in a special way. SMSA will be crowning Mary at our special May Crowning ceremony. This Friday, May 3rd, we’ll be crowning the Mary statue located in our beautiful grotto area outside the South Hall entrance. Grades P3 through 8 will participate in the ceremony on Friday, led by Father Michael. Mary will be crowned for the entire month of May in this special way for us to express our love for her as she intercedes our prays and lifts them with us to Our Father in Heaven.
This week we have begun our Spring MAP testing session for Grades 2 through 8. We will be testing in the content areas of math, reading and language usage. SMSA uses this data to support students in goal setting, track progress, look for patterns and to support our strategic action plan. SMSA continues to be a learning institution to create an environment filled with learning opportunities our Ledger community.
Mr. Ken Fisher, Elementary Assistant Principal, will be retiring at the end of this school year. Mr. Fisher’s positive attitude and thoughtfulness will be missed at SMSA. From the moment I met Mr. Fisher, I knew our positive energy would match well in leading grades P3-Gr. 8. Mr. Fisher is dependable, caring and a friend. Looking for the best in every situation is one of his greatest gifts. SMSA and I thank Mr. Fisher for his fellowship, leadership and care for SMSA. I wish nothing but the best for Mr. Fisher and his family as he enters into retirement from education. Please read Mr. Fisher’s message to SMSA in the following link. Farewell letter to SMSA
Thank you for all your support and partnership as we transition to May at SMSA. Together we create a path for tomorrow’s children to achieve amazing dreams.
God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer
