Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we begin 2026, I want to sincerely thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration. Every day, we see our students grow and learn here at the Ledge, and I am truly grateful to have you as part of our educational community.
Reflecting on the first half of the school year, I’m filled with stories of the Ledger Way in action—moments of challenge and triumph. There are instances where we may stumble and are given the opportunity to advance in our learning and growth. Times when Christ has supported us on our journey. There are moments that are filled with learning and achievement as we discover new knowledge and apply skills in our lives. I hope these experiences help us realize our community’s potential to influence and impact the world around us as we aim to serve as a instrument for Christ to enter the world.
This week, students from second to eighth grade began their winter MAP tests in language, math, and reading. Please support your child by ensuring they attend school during this crucial time, as it helps us enhance our teaching and learning at SMSA.
As we continue forward, we eagerly anticipate the opportunities that await. Together, we are shaping the future of our children and empowering them to fulfill their dreams. Thank you for your continued support in making SMSA a wonderful place for learning and growth.
God Bless, Steven Kelnhofer
Elementary Principal, SMSA
The Principal’s Pen is an opportunity for teachers to recognize students who consistently demonstrate “The Ledger Way” with a focus on faith, learning, respect for leadership, community and responsibility. The students chosen will attend a special breakfast with Mr. Kelnhofer, Mr. Thuerwachter and a special guest. They will also receive a certificate with a brief sentence on how they followed “The Ledger Way,” and a principal’s pen. This week’s special guest speaker is Heather Reilley, our Director of Pupil Services.
