Dear Parents and Guardians,
The first half of the school year is just about to come to a conclusion. It’s a good time to stop and reflect on just how far we have come this school year. It’s important to reflect on:
- what can we control
- what can we support
- what is predictable
- what is temporary
This is a wonderful tool to use, especially this school year.
SMSA continues to collect data through COVID-19 mitigation to inform our decisions. We are going to make a few adjustments because of the data we collected and then monitor the impact as we put the adjustments in place, starting January 18, 2021.
These adjustments will start January 18, 2021:
- The big play set on the upper playground will be used since the students are wearing winter attire. (This started January 7, 2021.)
- Students will be traveling to the special classrooms such as art, PE and music.
- Grades 6-8 will be going to visit their lockers in between all class periods instead of three times a day.
- Grades 1-2 will be going to the library for 15 minutes to check out books. Other grades may follow suit as we find the process is working.
- Each classroom will be going to the Chapel with another cohort to attend mass more often this semester, but will remain on separate sides of the chapel and all students will be socially distanced.
As always, I appreciate your support and understanding of the responsibility in partnering with us to keep learning happening on the Ledge.
God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer
