From the Desk of Steve Kelnhofer - Elementary School Principal

Dear SMSA Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you well and excited for the school year! As we embark on this journey together, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and partnership in nurturing our students.

We are thrilled to have our students back on the Ledge, filling our community with joy and positivity! Thank you for an outstanding orientation/supply drop off day last week; it was wonderful to see everyone again. Please reach out if you have a questions as we begin the school year. Together, as partners in education, we aim to guide our children toward fulfilling their potential rooted in Christ’s teachings. We are excited to engage in holistic learning and cultivate leaders equipped to face global challenges.

Safety Procedures
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our drop-off and pick-up procedures for our Ledger community. It is vital for everyone to contribute to keeping our children safe. Please drive “Phone Free” when on campus grounds. Slow down as you embark on the school grounds. When on campus, please prioritize safety by using designated areas such as sidewalks and crosswalks. Thank you for supporting our community and fostering a culture of safety.

South Hall Parking Lot Procedure
Traffic Flow: Keep traffic moving in the Hug N’ Go zones around the perimeter of the south parking lot, where sidewalks line the entire drop zone.

Parking: If you need to park and walk with your child(ren) into school, please use the designated stalls, pulling all the way through and facing the center aisle.

For your safety and that of the children, please ensure your vehicle is facing the center aisle to allow for smooth exits.

School Picture Information

News and Information

Requirements to participate in 5th grade Band:

Requirements to participate in 5th grade Band:
Students need to have an instrument and a lesson book in order to fully participate in 5th grade beginning band.

When I met with the band for the first time this week, I noticed there were about ten students who haven’t made arrangements for an instrument. Please stop at Mike’s Music to checkout the rental program and purchase a lesson book: Tradition of Excellence book 1 (Red Book) for approximately $13.00.

If your son or daughter is only playing the bells, you only need to rent a bell kit , Not the full percussion kit to keep at home for practicing.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at your convenience.

Thank you so much!

Would you like to get involved at SMSA?

If you are interested in getting involved at SMSA, be a part of the SMSA Parent Connectors Group! Our group focuses on building connections with our SMSA families through our events during the school year as well as celebrating our amazing SMSA Staff. If you have a child(ren) in grades preschool through 5th Grade, you received a blue Parent Connectors Volunteer Form at supply drop off day. If you are interested in helping with our group, please fill out the form & return it to your child’s teacher by Friday, September 5th. Only ONE per family is needed to be filled out. If your youngest child(ren) is in 6th Grade or older, please email me, alnuss@charter.net, letting me know you would like to be included in the group emails as they didn’t receive a volunteer form. Once they are all collected and entered, you will receive an email. Each year a NEW email group is created to keep it updated so even if you have been a part of the group email in years past, please let us know you continue to want to be. We greatly appreciate ALL of our volunteers! We couldn’t do what we do without all of your help! It is going to be a great school year! If you have any questions, please email Andrea Nuss, alnuss@charter.net.
