Back to School Message from SMSA's President & Principals

Dear St. Mary’s Springs Academy Parents and Guardians,

With the 2022-2023 school year just around the corner, it is our sincere hope that this summer has provided you and your family an opportunity to spend additional time together before the school year begins.  As we approach our 113th year of providing exceptional Catholic education, we are eager and grateful to welcome new and returning students and their families home on the Ledge.

As previously indicated in the July 22nd communication, we have made every effort to streamline the Back to School Family Packet information, making key forms and other important information more easily accessible via the Parent Resource Page.  In anticipation of Student Orientation and Supply Drop-Off on Tuesday, August 23rd, we ask that you carefully read and review this information and complete the following required documents prior to the start of school.

Required Forms – due prior to Wednesday, August 24, 2022:

1) SMSA Emergency Information and Handbook Acceptance/Permission Form – fillable form may be submitted via email to:  cellestad@smsacademy.org or returned in person to either the South or North Hall Office. Download and open in your preferred PDF viewer.

2) Health and Medical Letter/Forms – please read and electronically complete the required health and immunization forms for your child(ren) via the parent portal in Skyward Family Access (instructions are provided).  If your child has allergies and/or requires daily or emergency medication at school, there are corresponding forms for completion.

Optional Forms and Additional Information – see busing and transportation (shuttle sign-up), childcare opportunities (registration form), school lunch programs, school dress code/uniforms and much more by scrolling on the Parent Resource Page

We are grateful for all of our new and returning families and your steadfast commitment to Catholic education, unwavering faith in The Ledger Way,  and desire to work in partnership.  Working together to educate and nurture the God-given talents and human potential of your child(ren) is a privilege and responsibility for which we are both honored and grateful.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Our Lady of the Ledge, pray for us.

Stacey Akey: President

Steve Kelnhofer: Principal, Grade PreK-8

Eamonn O’Keeffe: Principal, Grade 9-12

Positive School Climate

Welcome back SMSA students and families,

I am blessed to be back in the role as Assistant Principal at SMSA and I am busy planning for a positive school year.  In my years in education I have learned that positive relationships build a strong foundation for success and I encourage you to support this focus for the upcoming year.  Encourage your children to form positive relationships with their classmates and their teachers, positive relationships will help them gain the confidence they need to be successful!

My work with students at SMSA includes character development and I use the Ledger Way Core Values as my guide.  Whether a student needs support in behavioral choices, work ethic, study habits, or relationships, the core values serve as a great starting point for any of these discussions.  The Ledger Way Core Values are faith, learning, respect, leadership, community, and responsibility.  Parents/guardians, try using these values when engaged in discussions with your child regarding things they may need to improve in their lives, you can’t go wrong!  You will be amazed at how many of these values are aligned to good choices you would like your child to make.

Please feel free to contact me at any time, I look forward to working with you!

Have a great school year and may God Bless You,

Ken Fisher SMSA Prek-8 Assistant Principal
