  • Tasks would include assisting Kitchen Manager with food preparation for student lunches, serving of food and point of sale duties, washing dishes and cleanup as needed.
  • Experience working with children preferred. Milwaukee Archdiocesan Safe Environment class and background check required prior to start date.
  • Nature of work requires moderate physical effort, continuous standing, and ability to lift 30-50lb occasionally.

High School Theology Teacher

St. Mary’s Springs Academy seeks a full-time theology teacher to join a veteran department and cohesive, joyful, and mission driven high school teaching community for the 25-26 academic year. The teacher shall be responsible for teaching Church History, Scripture and Morality courses to students in grades 10 and 11. SMSA follows the high school theology curriculum outlined by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

 

Requirements:

The successful candidate understands the universal principles of good instruction, and has experience using current educational practices and methodologies. Our new colleague will be a team player who is flexible and collaborative with colleagues, and who can successfully integrate technology into the daily teaching practices and differentiate instruction and assessment.

Per Archdiocesan standards, a school teacher who teaches theology for a majority of their school day shall meet the following requirements:

  • Practicing Catholic
  • A postsecondary degree in Catholic theology
  • One of the following:
    • State teacher license.
    • Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 semester hours of credit in teacher education from an accredited institution as part of, or in addition to, the degree.
    • Bachelor’s degree and an individualized plan of study to attain licensure/certification approved by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Office for Schools.
  • Basic Religious Education Certification (within three (3) years from the initial contract date) with continuing efforts toward Advanced certification.
  • All teachers are required to support the teachings of the Church and moral demands of the Gospel, as articulated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Reading Specialist

St. Mary’s Springs Academy is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time reading specialist for the 25-26 academic year to serve students in grades P3-8.

 

The Reading Specialist is responsible for providing high quality instruction, support and leadership in order to produce high quality outcomes in the area of Reading and Literacy. The Reading Specialist assists with establishing school wide and individual reading goals. Additionally, the Reading Specialist provides intervention for students and works with teachers to implement additional supports within the classroom. The Reading Specialist assists in developing and implementing a comprehensive reading program.

 

Requirements:

Applicants must be certified as a licensed Reading instructor in the State of Wisconsin with three to five years’ experience preferred. The successful candidate understands and has experience in current practices and methodologies for teaching reading to grades K-6. The candidate must be a team player, willing to be flexible and collaborate with colleagues and capable of successfully integrating technology into the daily teaching practices; differentiating instruction and assessment. Training in CKLA, as well as a practicing Catholic preferred.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the Academic Team to coordinate and facilitate a school-wide literacy program
  • Provides coaching, support and strategies to teachers to improve instruction that will enhance literacy growth across the curriculum
  • Assists students with lagging development improve literacy skills
  • Collaborates with teachers to promote the learning and implementation of best practices in literacy instruction
  • Creates and examines data to measure the success of literacy programs and instruction
  • Teaches targeted literacy intervention to individual or small groups of students using research-based strategies and resources
  • Conducts individual and school-wide assessments in order to evaluate levels and targeted interventions
  • Reviews student achievement and facilitates student support in appropriate reading and writing interventions
  • Meets regularly with classroom teachers to plan literacy instruction that correlates with individual student needs
  • Evaluates the reading/language arts program annually for effectiveness
  • Provides data-driven staff development in alliance with the Academic Team
  • Promotes effective use of technology within reading programs

After School Child Care - Part Time

St. Mary’s Springs Academy is seeking an individual who desires an opportunity to work in a dynamic empowering environment with students in grades 4K-5 as a part-time supervisor for our before/after school care programs. Each of the three classrooms are custom to certain grade levels and activities associated with the range of the grade levels.  

 

A strong candidate is willing to work as a team member, collaborate with colleagues and complete the Safe Environment Education training. Person with experience in an elementary school and/or child care setting is preferred, but not required.
