Big Money Raffle

Each year, Big Money Raffle (BMR) raises between $50-$60k.  Your participation in the sale of these tickets is imperative.  BMR helps keep tuition affordable for families as 100% of the profits offset operational costs at SMSA.  Did you know that it costs SMSA $37,000 annually for officials at sporting events, $775 to rent Fruth Field for each home football game, and for all System Masses, it costs $1,670 to bus everyone to Holy Family?

Your participation makes a difference!  Tickets can be purchased from SMSA families, Scrip Office, North and South Office as well as from these local retialers: Annie’s Fountain City Cafe, Baker Cheese, Central Barber, Flood Oil Company and Twohig Family Dentistry.

A Video Reflection from Fr. Mike Schmitz

We often use the term “friend” loosely, introducing casual acquaintances as “My friends Lucy and John.” But what is friendship, really?

In this video, Fr. Mike uses Aristotle’s three kinds of friendship—pleasant friendships, useful friendships and virtuous friendships—as guidelines.

While all three can be good, the first two can end up being flimsy and fleeting; but the third kind, virtuous friendships, really get to the heart of what good friends are to us. They are on the same mission, they have many of the same goals, we can even kind of see another self within these friends.

Fr. Mike emphasizes the need for us to have more of these kinds of friendships, saying that if we don’t think they matter we may just be distracting ourselves from our loneliness.

SCRIP

Use Scrip for your Christmas shopping

Christmas is less than 2 months away, can you believe it!?

Make Christmas shopping easier by giving gift-cards, purchased from the Scrip Office, as gifts to your family, friends and co-workers.  A portion of the purchase price is returned to you as a rebate.  Part of that rebate is then added to your SCRIP account and used to offset your tuition costs at SMSA or any tuition-based school.  The remaining rebates are then used to help offset the operating costs of the System.

Remember, if we don’t have what you are looking for in inventory, please ask.  We may be able to place a special order for you!

Give the gift of Scrip and have more time to focus on the true meaning of Christmas!
