Ledger Leaders

Being a Ledger Leader means defining and continually demonstrating our Core Values of Faith, Learning, Leadership, Respect, Responsibility and Community.  Our teachers have submitted students for recognition they feel exhibited these values. The categories for recognition from the middle school are 6th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade.  The four categories for high school were determined by subject groupings: 1) English/Foreign Language, 2) Math/Science/Business, 3) Art/Music/Phy. Ed. and 4) Social Studies/Theology.

Congratulations to the following students chosen as the October 2018 Ledger Leaders!

Madalyn Grunwald (6th Grade)

Peter Skiff (7th Grade)

Cohen Dalzell (8th Grade)

Izzy Coon ‘22 (English/Foreign Language)

Manuel Wuest ’21 (Math/Science/Business)

Lillian Baumhardt ’19 (Social Studies/Theology)

Mike Nemitz ‘19 (Art/Music/Phy. Ed.)

I personally would like to congratulate and say thank you to these students for the impact they have on the SMSA community and for the efforts they make to lead by example!

Immaculate Conception Feast Day - December 7th

On December 8, 2018 the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Patronal Feast Day of Saint Mary’s Springs Academy. Since this Holy Day of Obligation falls on a Saturday this year, we will not be having a special Mass at school (please see your parish website for Mass times!), but we will be doing some fun activities. On Friday, December 7, 2018 we will have an all-system assembly in the morning with a prayer service and a students vs. staff volleyball game.
Tomorrow, November 30, 2018 we will begin praying a Novena (nine-day) prayer in anticipation of the Feast Day.  The text of the prayer is below.  Please join us from home or the office in reciting:

Heavenly Father, you knew ahead of time the grace that Jesus would merit by His death on the Cross. In Your mercy, you applied a special portion of that grace to the Blessed Virgin Mary at the moment of her Conception in the womb of her mother, Saint Anne. By so doing, You preserved Mary from the stain of sin and prepared a worthy dwelling place for Your Son. We ask that, through Mary’s intercession, we too would be sanctified by the grace of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Christmas Card Sale - December 8th & 9th

Students have created unique and original Christmas cards to help support a local family in need.  The family has three boys ages 8, 5 and 3. Money collected from the sales will be used for the purchase of everyday living essentials such as socks, shoes, clothing and bed sheets.

These cards will be sold for $2 each after all Masses at Holy Family Parish sites the weekend of December 8 and 9, 2018.

Please consider volunteering to sell the cards after one of the Masses by clicking here.

Thank you for making a family’s Christmas a little brighter!
