WIS 23 Expansion Project

From the DOT Project Manager

Anytime a new project is started, there is usually traffic congestion for the first few days/weeks as motorists adapt to the changes and some find alternate routes.

The contractor is in the process of installing the temporary traffic signals at the intersection of County K and US 151 to improve the functionality of that intersection with the additional traffic that will be using the intersection during the construction project.  Every time we install traffic signals at a new intersection, we are required to put the lights into a flash mode before activating them to green, yellow, or red.  The signals will be in a flash mode until Monday.  The signals will be functional on Monday, April 26th.  The additional turn lanes are being constructed this week on US 151 and will be paved later this week as another temporary measure to improve traffic flow during the construction project.

The signals at WIS 23 and US 151 should be functioning better after Wednesday.  In order to complete some work, we had to disconnect the sensors in the pavement to detect vehicles.  When the sensors are disconnected the signals run on a pretimed pattern.  During peak hours of traffic, pretimed signals are not as efficient.   The signals should be rewired to run on some of the sensors again by Thursday.  Please be patient as we work through these first stages of the project and get the temporary signals installed.

Accreditation Communication

Dear Parents/Guardians:

St. Mary’s Springs Academy is excited to announce that our System will be completing our re-accreditation process this spring through Cognia, formerly known as AdvancED.  The accreditation process is not about passing a one-time inspection, but demonstrating a persistent commitment to our students, parents and community that focuses on continuous school improvement.  This process allows St. Mary’s Springs Academy to dive deep into the trends and opportunities for improvement affecting the school as well as the different programs and services that are implemented to help support all students in achieving their highest potential.

Over the past several months, St. Mary’s Springs Academy had the opportunity to examine the entire institution based on rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria.  These standards cover the areas of leadership, learning and resource capacity.

Our accreditation will allow us to:

  • Demonstrate to our students, parents, and community that we are focused on increasing student achievement, providing a safe learning environment, and maintaining an efficient and effective operation staffed by highly qualified educators
  • Validate the work our System is doing meets the nationally recognized benchmark of quality and excellence
  • Receive feedback that will inform our continuous improvement plan and long-term strategic goals

We are looking forward to working with the Cognia review team during our virtual site visit on May 10-12, 2021.  The team is comprised of specially trained educators and administrators who will engage with all of our stakeholder groups through interviews as well as assess our provided evidence to form a comprehensive picture of our strengths and our opportunities for growth.

We thank you, our parent/guardian partners, for your continued support of our efforts in service to our students.

Melissa Trepte, Prek-8 Assistant Principal, Accreditation Coordinator
