It’s almost here! This Thursday, September 17, is Holy Family Women's Ministry “Sharing Our Journey” event from 5:40 to 8:00 pm at Holy Family Church. The night will begin with the Rosary and Mass, followed by refreshments and a social in the Hall. Holy Family Priest, Fr. Nicholas Waddell, will share a talk on “The Vocation of Women.” His talk will discuss humanity’s proclivity to build idols. Everything that once was a reminder of our place as creatures becomes defaced in our attempt to escape God. Man and woman were created in harmony – but this too has become a source of conflict. Women, the height of creation, remind man that he is not God. The vocation of women is to make manifest the beauty and glory of being a creature and because of this, women become a splendid Icon against Idolatry. Men can start their Wednesday mornings off with the St. Ambrose Men’s Group and the That Man is You! program. Beginning at 5:30 am in Holy Family North Hall at Holy Family Church, enjoy breakfast and fellowship as you learn more about your faith from the That Man is You! program. Holy Family is excited to partner with Odyssey Cinemas & Social – Fond du Lac to sponsor a faith-filled surprise of a film on Sunday, September 20 at 1:00 pm at the Odyssey Cinema, 1131 W. Scott St.! Be among the first to experience a faith-based film. But which film? It will remain a secret until the lights go down! Gather your family and friends and share the excitement of discovering something meaningful together. It could become a future favorite—or the next faith-based film everyone will soon be talking about! Have you reserved your seat for Holy Family’s bus trip to the Vatican II Awards? On Tuesday, September 22 Holy Family Director of Human Concerns Erin Cobb will receive the Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s St. John XXIII Award for Spirit of the Council at the Vatican II Awards. In celebration of this special recognition, Holy Family is inviting parishioners to join their bus trip to the award ceremony at 6:00 pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee. The bus will leave Holy Family Church at 3:45 pm and return around 10:00. The bus is $20 per person; boxed lunch will be provided. Seats are limited. Are you interested in learning more about how someone joins the Catholic Church? You may be a member of another Christian denomination, faith tradition, or are seeking a faith tradition for the first time. Maybe you are an adult who was baptized Catholic, but never completed your sacraments of initiation in Confirmation and Eucharist. Or, you may be family or friend to someone described above. The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process by which a person is initiated as an adult into the Catholic Church, through Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion. Through this process the adult is formed in the Christian faith, with the local parish community serving as both catechists and models. OCIA is for three groups of people: 

• Those who have never been baptized in any faith 
• People who were baptized in another Christian faith 
• Baptized Catholics who have never received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist

Join the Sisters of St. Agnes for contemplative prayer on one Sunday each month from 4-5 p.m in the CSA Chapel (320 County Rd K, Fond du Lac, WI 54937).

The prayer time begins and ends with a prayer. Silence is maintained in the interim to allow for personal prayers. This prayer is for our country, for peace in the world, and for family and friends.

Join us for your special needs and graces. All are welcome to participate for the hour or a portion of it.

Each session will focus on a single theme of Catholic Social Teaching and explore it through the lens of a CSA Corporate Stance and a Marian major. The series will take place from 3-4 p.m. in Marian University’s Stayer Auditorium. Sisters & Seekers is based on a national program called Nuns & Nones. Our purpose is to come together as women from diverse spiritual backgrounds and belief systems to reflect on the deeper meaning and spiritual questions of our lives in a world that is chaotic, polarized, and fear-driven. Sisters & Seekers gatherings follow these guiding principles: (1) Create safe places for relationship, dialogue, inquiry, and spiritual practice that can inform personal social action. (2) Welcome mutual learning and pluralistic thought- not persuasion of belief. (3) Aim to root oneself in a personal spiritual foundation that can bring forth a more just and loving world, no longer dependent on systems of extraction and oppression. (4) At best, grows into a supportive, welcoming and committed community (5) Led by a Guiding Committee composed of two capable Sisters and two Seekers.
