Life Guard Training Class

Dates and Times: Wednesday – Saturday –    December 27 – 30, 2017

7:00 am – 4:00 pm

Where:  FDL Community Aquatic Center – 100 W. 9th St.

 

Cost    $125.00 – FDL School District Residents     $150.00 – Non-Residents

Being a lifeguard is more than just getting a good tan, getting paid, and having fun.  Realistically, as a professional rescuer you are responsible for the safety of the patrons that come to your pool.  During this class, not only will there be a great emphasis on water rescue skills, but also on other “behind the scene” skills that are essential to effective lifeguarding.

It is very important that you attend all classes and be on time. We will emphasize the most important points during class time, but we cannot cover every detail.  Therefore, it is your responsibility to review all materials that are provided or made available on-line.  Also make sure that you bring along paper, a pencil or pen, and your swim apparel to all classes, as well as a lunch.

The prerequisites for taking the class include:

  1. Swim 300 yards using front crawl and/or breast stroke in a continuous swim with rhythmic breathing and stroke, no touching the bottom of the pool or resting at any time.
  2. Tread water for two minutes using only leg motion (hands will be placed under opposite armpits.)
  3. Swim 20 yards, go down 7-9 feet, retrieve a brick, maintain two hands on the brick swimming twenty yards to the starting point and get out of the water without using a ladder. Time Limit – 1 minute 40 seconds.

The prerequisites must be completed prior to first day of class.  Please call the Aquatic Center and make an appointment, 929-3536. Goggles will be allowed during the 300 swim only.

No goggles may be worn during any of the other skill tests.

Perspective candidates must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of this course.   MUST be 16 years old to Guard!

Fond du Lac Youth Wrestling Winter Wrestling

Cardinal Kids Wrestling Program (5K – 2nd gr. students)

 

  • Program runs Saturday mornings: January 6 – February 17, 2018, 8:30 am – 10:00 am

 

  • Practices at Riverside Elementary School – Wrestling Room (South Balcony)

 

  • Registration is 30 minutes prior to first practice on January 6th or before any practice

 

  • Open to boys & girls in grades 5K – 2nd grade, younger allowed with coach’s approval

 

  • Beginning wrestling program focusing on fun, fitness, & introducing wrestling basics

 

  • Wrestlers are to wear clean shorts or sweat pants, clean t-shirt & bring dry tennis shoes or wrestling shoes. Some may wrestle in socks. No jewelry allowed.

 

  • Wrestlers will be divided into groups based on age, weight, and experience

 

  • Cost of program is $20/Family. Checks payable to FdL Wrestling Club

 

Junior Cardinals Wrestling Program (3rd – 8th gr. students)

  • Beginner and intermediate wrestling focusing on fun, fitness, and wrestling basics.
  • Open to boys & girls in grades 3 – 8.
  • Program runs from December 5 – Feb. 20, 2018
  • Registration prior to first practice, Tuesday, December 5 or subsequent practices
  • Practices: Riverside Elementary Wrestling Room – South Balcony: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 pm – 8:00pm
  • Participants in the Junior Cardinals wrestling program are expected to participate with their Middle School team.
  • Wrestlers are to wear clean shorts or sweat pants, clean t-shirt & bring dry tennis shoes or wrestling shoes. Some may wrestle in socks. No jewelry allowed.
  • Wrestlers will be divided into groups based on age, weight, and experience.
  • Cost of program is $20/Family. Checks made out to FdL Wrestling Club
