  • Next week, May 7 -11, we will be celebrating our SMSA Staff appreciation week.  Our Staff Makes SMSA SUNsational! Celebrate in a cheery yellow way! All students can dress in YELLOW clothing, accessories or costumes. No leggings, tights, etc.  Jeans and sweatpants are ok.  For more information please look at the eLedger on-line.
  • There will be a meeting for any 8th grade girls interested in going out for HS tennis next fall on Friday at 11:30 in the cafeteria.
  • May 2nd is a jeans day for the Middle School.  $3 donation to wear jeans or sweats (no athletic shorts) with spiritwear.  The proceeds go to the MACC fund to aid in childhood cancer research.
  • Wednesday May 2nd all middle school and high school students are invited to help clean-up the outside of our campus.  Meet in the cafeteria after school to begin clean-up at 3:30.  Service hours can be earned.  For more information see Mrs. Hutchinson, Mrs. Sosinski or Mrs. Burkart.
  •  Detentions will be served with:   Ms. Storey in the HS Art room

  • Key Club will be making tie blankets after school on Thursday (location TBD) sign up outside of Mrs. Petrie’s classroom.
  • There is a Key Club meeting Friday morning before school.

  • Seniors you should have received a Senior Sweats order form in homeroom.  Orders are due this Friday.  No late orders will be accepted.
  • Nomination papers for Senior class officers are now available in Mrs. Bartel’s room until Wednesday.
  • The HS Art show is this week at the Motherhouse and the artist reception is Wednesday May 2nd 6-8pm

  • The Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac is accepting applications for its Discovery Guide Volunteer Program.  This program is ideal for high school students that are looking for a meaningful way to apply and further develop their creativity, communication skills and leadership.  Students need to complete a 2-hour training session (June 12 or June 19) and then will select from a variety of volunteer shifts throughout the summer.  They will finish the program with a quality experience, something they will be proud to put on their resumes and 16 volunteer hours.

  • The Children’s Museum and Habitat for Humanity of FDL are looking for volunteers, age 14+, to help as parking lot attendants during Walleye Weekend.  Shifts begin Friday June 8th and run through Sunday afternoon June 10th in 2.5 hour increments.  More information is in the Counseling Office.

Counseling Updates

  • PEO Chapter K of Fond du Lac is offering the $750 Marguerite Award to a senior girl with a GPA between 3.0-3.5, lives in FDL County OR attends school in FDL County and has been accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning (technical school, college or university).  Please stop in the Counseling Office for an application.  Deadline has been extended to May 1, 2018.
  • Any students entering 11th, 12th or freshmen year of college are eligible to sign up for a Health Career Camp being held June 24-28 or July 15-19.  Applications are due by May 4th.  These camps are held in Oshkosh or Manitowoc.  This is an excellent opportunity to explore different areas of the Healthcare field.  Please stop in the Counseling Office for more information.
  • Rosenow Elementary School PTO will be offering 3 $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who attended Rosenow Elementary School at least one year and who plan to continue their education at a college or technical school.
  • Villa Loretto in Mt. Calvary is looking for Dietary Aides.  Must be 16 years of age.
  • St. Lawrence Seminary is looking for summer help to do general cleaning in classrooms, dormitories, offices, etc.
  • BCI Burke is looking for summer helpers to work full time in their factory (40 hours).  Must be 18 years old.  Possible full time permanent positions available for spring graduates.  Visit their website at www.bciburke.com to get a sense of what they do.
  • Red Cabin Green Acres is looking for some young guys to help with outdoor upkeep for their 10 acre property.  Please stop in the Counseling Office for more information.
  • The SMSA Technology Services office is seeking a current sophomore or junior to fill a youth apprentice role for next year beginning this summer.  This is a great opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in the IT and/or business fields.  If you are interested in more information, please stop by the office of Mr. Miller or Mr. Wikens.
  • Michels Corporation is hiring summer seasonal positions for yard laborer and their warehouse.  Applications must be filled out online by April 13th.
  • Girl Scouts Camp Evelyn in Plymouth and Camp Manitou in Two Rivers have positions available this summer.  They are hiring for  Kitchen Aides, Counselors and Maintenance Assistants.
  • Marian University is offering a Summer Nurse Camp June 11-14, 9-3 each day.  Cost is $25.  Limited to 20 incoming Junior and Senior high school students.  Stop in the Counseling Office for more information.  Perfect for someone wanting to explore careers in health care.
  • The Shirlee Cutler/FDL Softball Hall of Fame Memorial Scholarship is now available in the Counseling Office.  This is available to graduating female seniors with a 3.0 gpa and is a letter winner in a Varsity Softball program.  It’s available to students attending St. Mary’s Springs, WLA or Fond du Lac High School.
  • The Fond du Lac County Sheriff Benevolent Association Scholarship is available to graduating seniors who plan to attend college next year and reside in Fond du Lac County.
  • The Fond du Lac Community Theatre Memorial Scholarship is available to graduating seniors planning to pursue higher education and has been involved in at least 2 FDL Community Theatre productions.
  • Eastern Ridge Home Builders Association $600 scholarship for students majoring in Construction Management, Architecture, Building Trades (including qualified apprenticeship programs), Engineering, Interior Design or other related fields of study relative to residential construction.
  • Parkside Elementary School is offering a scholarship to students that attended Parkside Elementary for at least one year.
  • Lakeshore Elementary School Scholarship is available to a 2018 graduating senior who has spent at least one full year at Lakeshore Elementary.  More information in the Counseling Office.
  • Record Entertainment DJ & Photobooths is looking to hire a couple teens to work the photo booth at festivals, events, and weddings.  Work for a fun company! Hours primarily on a Friday or Saturday evening in late Spring and Summer. Photobooth team is responsible for setting up the booth, monitoring the camera and computer, interacting with photobooth guests.  Candidate must have good communication skills, be comfortable with the computer/ camera, training provided.  Interested persons should text Jennie at 920-913-0977 or email jennie@recordentertainment.com.
