Letter from Dr. Shively, 6-12 Principal, & Mr. Kasey Smith, 6-12 Director of Student Life

Dear parents of eight grade students,

Now that spring has arrived, your child will be preparing to move from middle school to high school. One way in which we recognize your child’s accomplishments is to take a picture of them as a group in their Sunday best. This year, Gueller’s will be taking their picture at Holy Family after our Friday All-System Mass on April 20th. Your child should be wearing their Sunday go-to-meeting clothes; all students need to wear dress shoes. Boys should wear dress pants/khakis, a button-down shirt and tie. Girls may wear nice slacks and blouse, skirt and blouse, or a nice dress. Handbook rules apply (finger-tip length or mid-thigh, whichever is longer for the skirts/dresses). Students who are not dressed as expected will not be in the picture. Please remember that students will be attending Mass, so assist them in dressing appropriately.

Thank you for your cooperation!  We are very excited for this next chapter in their lives!

In Christ,

Julie D. Shively, EdD and Kasey R. Smith

Letter from Dr. Shively, 6-12 Principal

March Teacher Spotlight

All Middle School grades overwhelmingly voted and sent comments for Mr. McGalloway to receive the March Teacher Spotlight. Two comments in particular stand out.  A student wrote, “I have learned more about religion in two months than I have in the past 8 years,” and a parent wrote, “He found a way to bring our son closer to his faith and stay interested outside of class about our religion.”

Mr. McGalloway, who has taught at SMSA for four years after teaching in the public school system, is devoted to the school’s mission and to bringing children to Christ.

Thank you, Mr. McGalloway, for all you do and thank you parents and students for showing your appreciation

Congrats!
