From the Office of Dr. Julie Shively EdD, 6 - 12 Principal

Focus on Core Values

Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce two initiatives to focus ourselves and our students on our Core Values of Community, Respect, Responsibility, Faith, Learning, and Leadership.

Freshman Seminar

The first is to adjust our Freshman Seminar structure so that the students and teachers are learning about and practicing one Core Value a month for second semester. The framework will shift to discussion and activities, challenging the students to incorporate the Core Values into their daily actions.

Adult Mentoring

The second initiative is to provide an adult mentor to students who are outside of the chain of command, so to speak.  Dave Beres, a known entity in the halls of SMSA, has graciously offered his time and talent to work with students and teachers in whatever capacity needed to develop and deepen the Core Values around our school.

As always, we welcome your feedback on these, and any other initiatives, so that together we can accomplish the mission of the school!

In Christ,

Dr. Julie Shively, EdD
