Building Community

What an exciting month for our high school students!  Although they are working hard in their academics, we are conscious about building up our community in other ways.

This is a snapshot of how the students and faculty came together as a community just since Thanksgiving:

  • Seniors completed their retreat and a number of faculty participated as small group leaders. The games were fun and the atmosphere was like a sleepover, but the small group discussions and reflections were priceless.
  • The high school play was fabulous and funny. I could tell that the actors and actresses enjoyed their parts!
  • Immaculate Conception celebration showed the students that they can have fun in their faith. Thanks for not slaughtering the faculty in the volleyball game!
  • Last week the Student Council gift wrapped the high school classroom doors, hung large snowflakes in the hallways, and wrapped large red bows on the stairwell handrails. What a nice way to brighten the halls for everyone!

With less than two weeks to go until Christmas break, the classrooms are filled with anticipation and good humor. I love hanging out on the third floor to absorb the students’ and teachers’ energy and community spirit!
