SUMMARY:District Testing Day for 9th-11th grades.  No school for Seniors
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, March 27th\, SMSA has scheduled a “district testing day” for all 9th through 11th grade students. Seniors will not have classes on March 27th and may use the day to manage their post-secondary planning – including submitting college scholarship applications and making college visits.  \nOur juniors will take the ACT® Test -with writing – or the ACT WorkKeys while our freshmen and sophomores will take the PreACT during the school day.  This exciting opportunity gives our students a chance to test in a familiar environment and measure their readiness for life after high school\, whether they’re going to college or into the workforce.  This day is a mandatory testing day for all 9th through 11th grade students. If your student is unable to attend the entirety of this testing date\, please contact our District Assessment Coordinator\, Melissa Trepte\, at mtrepte@smsacademy.org by Monday\, March 16th.  You will also need to contact the high school attendance office to report your student absent for the day. \nIt is important to note the following information for the March 27th district testing date: \n\n\nDue to the testing schedule\, students are expected to be in their assigned classrooms by 8:05 a.m. on March 27th. We would appreciate your assistance in helping your student to arrive early to school so that they will have adequate time to transition into their testing room on time.  \n\n\n If a student arrives late to their testing session\, he/she will not be allowed to enter based on strict ACT and PreACT protocols and will not be able to participate in testing for the day. \n\n\nBoth the ACT® Test -with writing\, The ACT WorkKeys and the PreACT will be conducted digitally\, so all students will need their fully charged school issued Chromebook. If a student does not have their fully charged school issued Chromebook with them at the start of testing\, they will not be able to participate in testing for the day. \n\n\nWe are able to offer the ACT® Test with writing at a discounted rate compared to the national testing cost. The cost of the exam will be $56 compared to the national testing cost of $93. Families that participate in the WPCP who have a junior student will not be assessed the $56 exam fee. The March 27th test date is reserved for our juniors only.  SMSA is an “Unlisted Site” and information about the March 27th test date will not be found on the ACT website.  Students from other schools will not be permitted to test at SMSA on this date.  SMSA will register our juniors for the March 27th test at St. Mary’s Springs Academy. You will not have to register your daughter/son-we have done that for you.  \n \nFamilies will receive an invoice from the Business Office for the cost of the ACT test that will be administered at SMSA on March 27th.  Please send your payment of $56 to the Business Office with the note/memo of “ACT Test” by Friday\, March 20th. \n\n\nOur district testing will not encompass the entire school day.  All 9th and 10th grade students will be released early at approximately noon\, with the 11th grade students being released at approximately 1:10 p.m.   \n\n\nHot lunch will not be served for high school students on the March 27th testing date.  \n\n\nStudents will be expected to leave campus directly after the testing.  Please make arrangements for pick-up as needed\, as students will not have access to campus after testing.  \n\n\nSMSA is excited to give this opportunity to your student.   If you have any questions\, please don’t hesitate to contact our District Assessment Coordinator\, Melissa Trepte\, at mtrepte@smsacademy.org. \nSincerely\, \nMelissa Trepte                                                                                                                             \nDirector of Curriculum & Instruction/District Assessment Coordinator
